An image.

This image made me want to design. I like the color and texture. Thinking I might (in all that spare time of mine) design a theme around the whole CD sleeve. Two points and a cup of coffee to whoever recognizes the artist.

Loved this song as the opening to John From Cincinnati.
So I finally checked out Hulu.com and was impractically and geekily happy to see not only could I watch the lastest episodes of BSG the day after airing, but I can embed them… so just because I can…
This weekend we’re going to see the Dali Lama. Here’s a video of his arrival to UM from MLive:
The open source community could stand to ease up on the stories of evil litigation and IP issues and write/digg/blog about the success and business being done with open source.
Finally - “Microsoft backs down” as Wired puts it. My own opinion - I’ll believe it when I see it. My skeptical money is that what M$ will end up calling compliance will be something different from actual compliance as developers need to actually utilize cross-browser standardization.
As I’ve gotten more freelance and development work this has been a bigger issue - to make sites consistently look good across browsers - and IE and CSS are the biggest pain to deal with - as most developers will tell you.
As an aside, to see the size of this issue in the web developer world - last I looked, the top dugg story in the last 365 days was “digg this if you’re tired of IE costing you money”.
PDS is “a service provider for Courts, Prosecutors, Probation and Parole agencies providing behavior change intervention utilizing the Motivational Facilitation Method, a style of communication that moves our Participant towards change in a manner that does not inadvertently create roadblocks to the Behavior Change process.”
Their web site needs included the ability to manage content themselves, maintenance of class schedules, mapping to class locations, class registration capabilities, and to match existing promotional materials. Utilizing a highly customized WordPress installation, custom secure forms, an embedded public Google Calendar for scheduling and mapping, and embedded custom HTML in pages, I was able to meet all of these objectives under budget.
Most importantly, however was the ability to do sophisticated administration through two highly intuitive interfaces - Google Calendar and the WordPress Administrative panel. The next stage for PDS will be to add transparent and secure payment and registration verification through a service provider.
