While reading Digg at lunchtime today I found something to post finally. No stunning tech news, no new products of any interest. No more baby pics for here - I’ll make a Maya site eventually. My MacBook Pro has yet to arrive at our door. Instead the most interesting tidbits for posting today are:
1. That you can put ketchup in rice and beans with the right seasonings and sauted onions and garlic without ruining it (and it’s the first time I’ve ever really liked red beans n rice).
I looked at wikipedia and google images for photos of either a pteronadon or a pteratorn, to no avail. The Digg comments have some really wacky conspiracy-buff/geek links to old school anglefire-hosted pages about Thunderbirds and assorted folklore.
I managed to avoid ever playing the Google image matching game and Tower Defense, however the former is a new favorite procrastination activity for some in our household (and it’s not the two-year-old).
Evidently I’ve got a decent name to anagram - although a few seemed vaguely dirty. One of these is now the title of this blog. Some of the more fun ones follow:
From Slashdot: “Inspired by Negroponte’s laptop for children, the Swedish company Medison is now taking orders for their US$150 Linux laptop, the Medison Celebrity. The laptop is a 1.5 GHz Celeron M 370 with 14 inch screen, wireless network and it comes with Fedora Red Hat pre-installed.”
This executive order is causing a stink on Digg and Slashdot. Evidently the claim is that it enables the Secretary of the Treasury to be able to “seize the property of any person who undermines efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq.”
Sounds a little like paranoia, and I’m tempted to dismiss it but the size of the stink makes me want to read more before moving on.
I found this article on links dugg by Kevin Rose. Mostly I wanted to hear what my wife thought about it so… I post.
I’ve yet to read the whole thing, but at first glance it got me thinking about the different roles a person must play throughout the day - friend, father, husband, coworker, uncle, role model, etc….
